ORIGIN / GENESIS

Mahila Vikash started in 1992 by a group of students at their secondary school level, inspired by the scout movements to do some constructive works towards rural reconstruction in and around their own village in the form of cleaning of wells, ponds and streets, creating awareness about hygiene and health and encouraging women to participate in the development process – during their holidays and school off hours.

In course of time, the same spirit continues to sparkle and Mahila Vikash got formalized (registered) in 1993 to initiate development interventions in more planned, organized and systematic way. It strives for improved socio-economic and politico-cultural status of the community and to facilitate the capacity building and empowerment of the unprivileged towards self-sustenance.
